To be fair I've not worked out where you lie on the Doom Scale (is there a word for a unit of Doom I wonder? Is it a linear scale or a log one?..). Though that might just be because you haven't either... :)

But I would venture that, taken on average, PS-ers are a less doomizt lot than LATOC-ers.

Of course, we *do* have the best apocalypses movies of all time made here "28 days/months later" as well as "On the Beach" and there is of course powerswitch's very own Alex Scarrow.

The American doomers have *some* survivors. We're a tad more morbid.

So to say we're not doomers here, is well, a little bit of a porky....
Who said we are not doomers (or some of us anyway)? :? Read the paragraph you quoted!

You'll have to start using more smileys, it's getting too difficult to separate your ironic bollox from your normal bollox.

Thats really the question, isn't it?

How many false alarms, non geologic events masquerading as peaks, artificial peaks related to infrastructure, etc etc are there supposed to be while we are all waiting around for THE peak.

I strongly suspect I've messed up that quote, but I do have to wonder what the practical difference is between geological and economic peak of oil. I liked the quote earlier about people only abandoning earlier strategies when the EROEI fell below alternatives, it seems a reasonable hypothesis.

I do understand that the concept of Peak Oil is based on a statistical analysis with its concomitant error bars, but I wonder if that is relevant to the decisions we have to make in the near future.

Talking of graphs RGR, could you please provide us with a graph of your peaks, mbbl/day (Y) against time, years (X) as you obviously have all the figures to hand? We might not be approaching Peak Oil but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we weren't approaching Peak Peaks. ':D'

First time posting an image, so hope that works. Bear in mind that's the all liquids, so includes NGL's and unconventional oil. Here's crude:

If that doesn't work, here's the oildrum article... http://europe.theoildrum.com/node/4152

RGR - you sure you aren't a *anker?

Next you'll be telling us there was a peak in 2002, 2003 (2), 2004 (2), 2005, 2006, 2007, etc. (from the other graphs posted)

Do you really think we are all stupid?

You are a bit like my youngest son - everybody is wrong and he is right....... I know that one day he will see sense, but I am not so sure about you.....
