An experiment - Using our pigs to clear land for potatoes.

What changes can we make to our lives to deal with the economic and energy crises ahead? Have you already started making preparations? Got tips to share?

An experiment - Using our pigs to clear land for potatoes.

Post by Keela »

I posted this earlier in the week elsewhere - but I think PowerSwitchers should enjoy this too!

- On Sunday evening we moved our pigs into a corner of field where we want to grow potatoes this year.

And 36 hours later it already looks like this:

I'll add more photos as time passes.

They'll get through that plot in no time! :D These two dug up a huge field in a fortnight :

They've now moved on and we've three new ones this week, Berkshire Gloucester Old Spot crosses with a bit of Gascon.

We've still a ham in perfect condition two years after the pig was killed!

Wonderful things piggies.

We had GOS last year. These ones are GOS x Large Black. They are really talkative! And much better diggers than the GOS ladies.

They are slowly finishing up all the greenery - so I think they'll have done a good job by potato planting time.

HWH love your piggies... they are so cute when they are little.
