Sounds like a conspiracy - never underestimate the power of a small group of friends.IanG wrote:I think it was more four friends meeting for a regular beer, than a hot bed of political activity
Reminds me of a story I heard about a pub in Oxfordshire where George Harrison used to drink. One time, George arrived at the pub, bought a beer and sat down in a corner with a newspaper.
Then a bloke walked in, not a local, looked like a tourist. He looked around, went to the bar, and bought a beer. Then he looked around again, spotted George Harrison sitting on his own, and walked over. "Mind if I join you?" he said. "No, not at all," said George, in his normal, down-to-Earth, friendly fashion.
There was a bit of banter about this and that, and after a while, the 'tourist' leant over to George and whispered in his ear, with a wink, "I've been told that George Harrison drinks in here sometimes you know."
