Hmmm...I've never understood why Blair didn't have to go as soon as it emerged that he had not acted promptly to correct the false reports about the Jean Charles de Menezes execution.

I agree the bloke is a t***er, but there looks to be something odd about the circumstances of his departure.

I strongly suspect we will shortly be seeing the Government assuming wholesale control of the police force.
