The US today offered to end farm subsidies by 2010 in a bid to claim the moral high ground in stalled world trade talks.
The US proposal will be put to a special meeting of 15 members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), including the EU, Australia, Brazil and Canada.

The session in Zurich, Switzerland is the latest effort to try and clinch a deal on farm subsidies, one of the most difficult barriers to achieving a trade deal by the end of the year.
I've got a feeling that these farm subsidies will be back before too long.

No way, Jos?.

If you wanted to start a revolution in the USA that would be a good way of going about it... I have a vision of huge combine harvesters rolling up Pensylvannia Av towards the White House...

Apart from which cheap subsidised grain is one of the USA's main trade weapons. I cant see them giving it up. This is just BS grandstanding.

Agree also. . . especially as most of those billion$ in subsidies go to the Agri-Business sector. There's no way they're going to upset that cosy relationship.
