Climate change is now widely accepted as the largest long-term environmental problem facing humanity and its major cause is carbon dioxide emissions from energy use. A not-for-profit organisation formed in 1992, we've rapidly become a leading figure in the fight to address climate change. Our aim is to promote sustainable energy, while reducing consumption and carbon emissions in the domestic and transport sectors throughout the UK.
?32,000-?43,000 depending on experience + excellent benefits
In this important, policy-focused and highly strategic role, you'll promote our policies on energy efficiency and behavioural change. This will mean working closely with key stakeholders, including the Government and EU. As well as driving forward our business strategy in this area, the role will also involve managing policy research projects and supporting the development of new business activities.
With a superb track record in a comparable role, you'll be an expert on energy efficiency policy and regulatory development in the UK and EU with a good understanding of behavioural change issues and market barriers. An analytical, persuasive and strategic approach is important, as is the ability to operate and influence at the highest levels. A proven leader, you'll have the ability to analyse new market and technical opportunities and build partnerships with a range of stakeholders.

As an employer, with all those buzz words in the job spec I would be expecting to pay maybe ?60k - ?85k.
However ... if I already had a friend - or someone internal - lined up for a job, and by law I had to publish an advert ... well ......

It's a sad thing that 40k won't attract the right people.
But I don't see why anybody should earn more than 40k - it only encourages them to consume ridiculously more than their fair share of the planet.

Perhaps the "Excellent Benefits" include free lodging at a posh PassivGaff in central London...otherwise that salery won't go far, as you say, at least until that 30% house price slump that Merv(?) was talking about on the front page of the Metro this morning.

There's nothing wrong with earning ?40k. It's just the number of years it takes to do it

Well in the future earning 40k will encourage people to save money. I hope.

Does that mean you must have done the same job somewhere else??
I wonder if in future jobs will have ?Peak Oil safe? at the bottom: Farmer, horticulturalist, wind farm specialist, water and sewerage engineer, nurse, doctor and any sort of politician.

By that logic, why pay them anything at all?
Why not just work for food and shelter and the state owns everything and decides what can be justified for each person's
fair share of the planet?

So those fit lazy people on the dole who have NEGATIVE incomes are the BEST people in the country?
High earners may provide more to society through employment etc than their incomes suggest.

One of my daughters was one of them recently. I used to say that if everyone lived like her the planet would be in a better state. Now she's working and has bought a car
