After some days of violent protests and the loss of many lives, it was earlier announced that the PM of Bangladesh had "left for a safer place"

Later reports have stated that he has "resigned and fled the country"

I believe he is actually a she - in these times of transgender rights such terms are rather 'last year' - being Sheikha Hasina, leader of the Awami League. Her main qualification seems to be that her Dad led the movement that secured the independence of Bangladesh. More seriously she was an ally of India, a moderate force in the region, and probably an ally, of sorts, of the West in general. Surprising to think but there are more than 200 million people that speak Bengali.

I expect more chaos, nepotism, and disorder, so no change there then.

The army have now taken power, who could have expected that !

In the near term I feel that Bangladesh is doomed by corruption, violence and poor governance in general. I don't think that it HAS a long term future due to rising sea levels and being already vulnerable to flooding.

That's why political instability there is bad news.
Turmoil = lots more people deciding life at home is now too bad, so they'll take their chances and flee West...
As we all know, there's a large Bangladeshi community in the UK, which will be attractive to extended families...
