WHat questions would you ask your local politician?

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

WHat questions would you ask your local politician?

Post by GordyJ1984 »

As the title reads...

Im about to send a letter to my local MLA's after I have discovered they have to reply to me and answer my questions.

WHat would you suggest to ask about?

Peak oil related

And include information

May be able to scare some of them into action

Think I would want to probe them on what plans they have for a short term disruption to oil supply

Food supply

Mass transit system

Any other thoughts?

Pardon my ignorance, but what's an MLA? Is it the Welsh equivalent of an MSP, or are you in Northern Ireland?

I'd probably kick off by asking them if they were aware of the Energy Watch Group report about PO and its implications, and if they weren't I'd offer them a quick bullet-point-type summary.

Then perhaps get a mate to follow it up after a couple of weeks...

Sorry an MLA would be the equivalent of what sits in the Welsh assembly i'd imagine

More powerful than councillors but below MPs.

Less power than a Scottish MP too id say.

However my Union in work has said to bombard MLAs with complaints over the pay deal settlement we are receiving and it seems to have worked and now I wonder could something similar work with Peak Oil

However I will be up against the Sammy (I dont believe in Global Warming) Wilson - our Environment Minister, and his party the DUP the largest in Northern Ireland.
