Labour Party/government Watch

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Also, please see the full John McDonnell (Labour shadow chancellor) speech to conference. You can only only find it on Youtube since the MSM, whilst full of "analyses" on his speech, have more or less universally deigned to not show us the actual speech itself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXkdMYsxYmk

I have shared it on face-book and urge anyone else to do the same.

Lots of abuse in the Telegraph of the Corbyn speech.

While I probably disagree without about 40% of the stuff Corbyn said today, he should be given a bit more respect.

I mean, moaning that Corbyn used a Kinnock speech from the 1980s that was rejected by every other Labour leader since. Well, it might work in today's climate.....

No surprises there then.

It doesn't matter what gets printed about Corbyn in The Telegraph. None of that paper's readers would ever vote Labour anyway, regardless who the leader is or what's its policies are.

That is why it is always good to go back to source. The media are paid to analyse which means they put their own spin on.

When I look at election results I want to see what every candidate got - not to read a narrative about the victor and the candidate in second place.

There are reasons why many people believe that this analysis is rubbish.

And there are reasons why many people think a lot of your posts are rubbish, John.

The above post in contentless. You aren't actually saying anything of substance. What point are you trying to make?

The point is that we have had this debate before and you should not accept silence as being agreement.

Why on earth would we expect that you agree with us just because you haven't posted? You've made your pro-establishment political views perfectly clear.

I would not describe me as "pro-establishment". I am, however, not a supporter of communism and I support a mixed economy with most activity being in the private sector.

90% of the members of this community would, though.

This is how he is co-opted, bit by bit. His capitulation (through the bullying known as 'real politic') means he'll end up being slagged off even by his hardened supporters and consigned to the wasteland. It's what will happen to the greens, should they ever get in.

Michael Meacher, left wing Labour MP, peak oil aware and all round good guy, has died.

This will be Corbyn's first test at the polls. With a 14,000 majority Labour aren't going to lose, but the media will have a field day.

Shame it had to be Michael that went first.

Agree. Meacher IMHO was one of the politicians who 'got it'.
