HMG considering watering down green policies.

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Same thing that happened to peak oil? When people are screaming about it from the rooftops about one doom or another and whatever "it" is can't even stop a single year of human population growth (let alone decreasing it in a year) then the entire boy who cried wolf routine comes into play. It isn't that is isn't happenining...it just isn't noticeable enough for all the caterwauling going on.

Good news for the UK, the slowdown of AMOC should turn global warming into global cooling for the island...so good for the island remnants of Empire! Long Live The King! Etc etc.

Parts of America are going to suck of course, the slowing of the AMOC won't be an advantage to the US in any way, and probably a few other countries as well.

Same thing that happened to peak oil? .................
What happened to the climate emergency is that climate mitigation measures got in the way of economic growth and economic growth is the be all and end all of political and economic life. It must be achieved even if it results in the destruction of the environment that gives human life any value. The rich will always be able to buy food and security even if the plebs are dying off in droves. Most of the rich are idiots.

The government has decided that in order to keep economic growth going we must continue to use more of everything. In energy terms this means that we will use more and more energy but it will be renewable energy that we waste so it will be OK from a sustainability point of view. So, instead of being fuel dependent on a number of unstable countries, we will be dependent on vast supplies of rare earth metals from "friendly" countries like China to build vast numbers of unneeded wind turbines and EV motors! Most of our economists are idiots.
