The problem with that is that the very rich can and do only spend a certain proportion of their money. The rest is invested in various ways which, at the moment, usually means in the financial markets where money chases money. This money is lost to the every day economy and does the majority of people no good. It would also accumulate and there would be less money available for you and I to use, as is happening now. There needs to be some form of taxation to get this lost money back into general circulation.odaeio wrote:If one is talking about this theft/profit/usury based value system, then abolish ALL taxes and and replace it with a single VAT on everything except basic food, shelter, water, clothing and warmth. Everything else I regard as a non-necessity. That way, the more one has to spend, the more tax he/she pays, in addition, the percentage tax paid will be absolutely transparent to everyone, and the system would be so much simpler to administer.
(I imagine, at this point in time, that VAT would be around 60%)!!!!
That wouldn't work. You can't get some people to pay taxes with our current system so the very rich, who are a bit psychotic about what they regard as their money, could be relied upon to not pay for anything. It wouldn't even work in Sweden, which used to have a concept of "enough", now as even they have been caught by the "more, more, more" bug.If one is talking about a fair and equal value system, then everyone would voluntarily pay in towards things they want, agree with, and use. E.G. Roads, Military protection, minimal government, local constabulary who's only purpose is protection and preserving the peace etc. If one does not agree with something, then don't contribute and you will not be provided with the service or permitted to use the facility.
