Looks like they are going to replace Sunak with Mordaunt. Something has changed over the course of the last week in terms of Sunak's credibility. The idea of him leading them through an election campaign is now unthinkable.

Mordaunt is certainly the most electable leader they could have - but what's the process to crown her? Not sure Tory members are going to vote for her ahead of Badenoch. If she stands unopposed - the members (and public) will be outraged.

It would have to be 100% coronation. I think it also needs to happen very quickly, or the situation will deteriorate further for them.

The mutinous Tories are said to have discussed replacing the prime minister in a “coronation” following a no-confidence vote, as opposed to putting their party and country through another leadership contest ahead of the looming general election, after Mr Sunak finally ruled out a May ballot.

Mr Sunak eventually condemned the comments as “racist and wrong” after cabinet ministers broke ranks to do so.

This all gives me so much pleasure, I know one shouldn't gloat at other's misfortune, but
in this case I effortlessly made an exception in a heartbeat. What would really be the icing on
the cake would be the splendidly delusional "bring back borage" faction gaining some traction.

There is a very rapid churning and high attrition rate at the top and I swear that Wishys hair is getting greyer by the day.

Given the multitude of wicked problems facing GB it would seem you would either have to be power mad or a masochist to want the top job.

I would guess Corbyn is glad he avoided the poisoned chalice.
