Is eco-civilisation compatible with democracy?

What can we do to change the minds of decision makers and people in general to actually do something about preparing for the forthcoming economic/energy crises (the ones after this one!)?

Oh, I understand the difference, and your preference for a literal interpretation rather than a more nuanced one, as the words certainly might indicate. In either case, I'll be sure when my current paper goes into review to mention to the reviewers that the internet has announced they need to watch out for "completely failing to grasp the point" and they should be on the alert.
