Piles of sawdust on logs

We ordered some green logs for seasoning just under a month ago. Looking at them now, a high proportion of them have little piles of sawdust on them, like something has tunnelled out of them. Anyone any idea what this might be? and what we should do about it if anything?
Cheers,
Peter.

I've seen this before, most commonly with Ash. Not a problem really, as long as the critters aren't going to get into something wooden in your house and eat it!

The most common creature is the Furniture beetle, Anobium punctatum. About this time of the year the adult eats its way out of the timber to fly off, leaving behind a small pile of frass under the flight hole. No need to worry. They pretty much only invade timber that is a bit damp and are very unlikely to infect your furniture in these days of central heating and the relatively low humidity we tend to keep our houses now.
