The diagonal bracing of that roof structure is conspicuous by its absence as are the steel ties which should connect the brick gable to that braced roof structure. This is faulty building for which NHBC should pay but probably won't. They usually manage to get out of paying for anything that they insure!

The investigators should check the rest of the estate as all the houses are probably built with the same inadequacy and the local Building Inspectors or whoever signed the house off should be taken to task for not checking each house. It's a common fault with large estates and builders. They get away with all sorts of stuff that the small builders gets picked up on.
