Yes, think so.
Moving is what I don't want to do, but its right for what we need - can't argue against it with myself anymore.
Now, we just need to get the housing crash over so we can get on with it.....

That's an interesting dilemma. Almost every existing house has to be inhabited for a long time into the future. There aren't the resources available to replace all of them. I can understand people who are aware of the problem moving to the most suitable houses, after all that's what I'm planning, but the houses we move from need to be brought up to a suitable standard as well. The problem is how to do it.
Sounds callus, but it isnt really our problem.but the houses we move from need to be brought up to a suitable standard as well. The problem is how to do it.
I did suggest the government funnel £40b of this extra spending to adding solar hot water to every house in the country, no one (important) seemed interested, not that my MP ever turns up.
I'm a realist, not a hippie
Agree entirely. I've put 450mm insulation in the loft, really gone after drafts around skirting boards etc. and replacing the useless current outer doors. There is a lot more to do here. I will do that to help make it more saleable and good practice for the next one. House is 50's and well built, which is more than can be said of a lot of new stuff.JohnB wrote:That's an interesting dilemma. It is a great house, but not ideal. We could do more here, but I think the move would be best. Bought in 2001 before we knew about PO, and we know exactly what we want.
I'm prepared to pay the moving cost just to get a south facing rear and garden, never mind the other things we want.
Still, its annoying I know exactly what I want to do, but can't yet.
Hi Jonb, is a south facing rear garden really that important? Sounds like your house is pretty good really from what I have read. I have a NE facing rear garden and it isn't a big issue to me - it gets the sun in the morning and in the summer gets the sun all day long. It is only in the winter it doesn't get much sun.
Just trying to help you get everything in perspective....... better the devil you know than the one you don't.......

Real money is gold and silver
Don't do that snowhope!
Get me thinking about it all over again!
Seriously, its a year at least before we would move, and
there's still lots to do.
First full year on the allotment, WVO filtering system
just about there - if only work and kids didn't keep getting in the way!
Now, it'd be nice if the economy was sound and PO was 2030
