In the June issue Prof Jeffrey Jupp has a letter saying the article was too pessimistic and made no mention of seawater aquaculture in coastal areas which he describes as "unproductive". Mangrove and Salicornia are the possible crops and it could be useful for algae farming. There is also a reference back to a conference at the Royal Aeronautical Society in Oct 2008. The benefit of saline aquaculture is that it doesn't take fresh water away from residents where it is used. It needs oil costs in the range $70 to $90 to be economic at present.
