Re: One for Adam2
I like the term "dirty electricity".
From what I understand changing the power factor in domestic circumstances is not necessary as you are not charged for vars but only watts. Dirty electricity is presumably that with voltage spikes and harmonics in there.
The unit looks a bit small to perform any harmonic, spike suppression or power factor adjustment.
Save your money.

Re: One for Adam2
There is NO GAIN WHATSOEVER in improving power factor of domestic electricity supplies in the UK or the USA or most other places.
And in any case these units are much too small to have any significant effect.

Yeah, they're a common scam and often extremely clever. I'm fairly cynical about many things, sometimes to my disadvantage (but not in this case).

Re: One for Adam2
It is to be expected that foolish persons fall for these scams, what I find to be most concerning is that schools, hospitals and other publicly funded institutions buy this rubbish.
This not only wastes money, but also gives the impression that they work.
They are even more popular in America than over here. For two reasons I suspect, firstly the American education system is very lacking in science, and secondly laws on advertising seem to be much laxer in America than over here.
American print media contains adverts for patent medicines and fuel saving gadgets that would never be allowed in the UK. Such rubbish is largely confined to the internet over here.
