Looks like we've gone mainstream:

I spoke to the author of this piece for about half an hour on the phone a couple of weeks ago.

Really? Did you mention how some climate doomers are just suckers for any mechanism to cause the blessed doom they are looking for?

Did you refer them to the appropriate wiki so they understand the type of people they are dealing with?

Goodness, you didn't give them the impression that being a doomer has anything to do with just climate did you? Folks from around here certainly should know this right down to their core, having fallen for whatever scheme comes along to give them what they want...doom. The means isn't all that important is it?

Your contribution?
Another Deep Adaptation follower, who didn't want his name to be published, told me he was planning to relocate from the South-East to the Welsh countryside.

"The basic things we'll need will be food, water and shelter," he says.

He plans to live off-grid, either joining an existing eco-community or "going it alone" with like-minded friends in a house clad with straw bales for insulation.

"Deep Adaptation isn't a bunker mentality of doing it yourself. You want a mix of people with different skills," he says.

But he also says he has been taking crossbow lessons, "because you never know".

"It seems like a pretty useful weapon to have around to protect ourselves. I'd hate the thought I'd ever have to use it but the thought of standing by and not being able to protect the ones I love is pretty horrifying."

No mention of UE having been suckered before? Do doomers ever admit they were wrong about doom, rather than just cycling on to the next favorite?

Crossbow lessons should take less then an hour. They are not that difficult. Several hours of practice with proper targets and backstops are on the other hand essential to getting good reliable hits at normal hunting (or defensive) ranges.

Nothing I said actually made it into the article! He ran into me talking about collapse on reddit, and then when he found out what I did for a living the conversation just rambled for half an hour. Although I have considered getting into crossbows.

Just for the record, I am simply going to ignore your posts from now on. I consider you a first class troll, and if it was my choice you would be banned (yet again). You contribute little or nothing to the debate here.
