View of climate is changing

Post by woodburner »

The met office are "improving" their site. I use the surface pressure charts a lot for weather information. The current page is at http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/ ... .html#view. The new one is at http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weat ... -pressure/. I don't see where the improvement is, Anyone like to enlighten me?

This is a dump of the raw data from the plot -- not texture wrapped, hence less processing (and possibly copyright payments to whoever produced the mapping data).

Use the German "wetter" site. It has much more versatile maps which give both the 500mb and surface pressure, and you can select temperature, temperature variation, etc., and you can look at the rest of the world (North polar plot particularly good to forecast cold weather during winter)

Me neither. I tried the new version and gave up. Maybe it's just familiarity but there seem to be several bits which are less easy to use. :(

It's in b/w! They obviously couldn't afford the colour licence.

Same sort of thing happened with iPlayer. Loads of improvements, now I can't play radio or tv programs.
