The BBC reports that the ability to make sheet diamond will help in the quest to develop nuclear fusion.
I've heard elsewhere that computer boffins are very interested in sheet diamond as an alternative to silicon for super-duper computers...?
I can't imagine what energy is required to make sheet diamond though... must be enormous, but if they pulled off fusion the eroei would make it seem insignificant I imagine
