The EU consultation on nuclear power

Is nuclear fission going to make a comeback and plug the gap in our energy needs? Will nuclear fusion ever become energetically viable?

The EU consultation on nuclear power

Post by biffvernon »

Have your say:

http://ec.europa.eu/energy/nuclear/cons ... nts_en.htm

The table at the bottom of the page is interesting. Different nations require different levels of nuclear power plant operator levels of liability. Germany requires a deposit of 2.5 billion Euro security and unlimited liability whilst the UK requires a security and liability limited to 156.7 million. Quite a difference.

There's a somewhat searching questionnaire to fill in, rather more intelligent than most questionnaires one comes across, and any EU citizen is invited to get involved in this process. Click near top of page.

(There are regular such consultations on all aspect of EU policy making - you can sign up to get notification of live consultations.)

Done.

Yes Biff, these surveys may be a distraction and may not do any good - but they're better than nothing. I fill in two or three a month.

Nuclear energy is unnecessary, uninsurable, uneconomic, unevacuable and most importantly, unsafe.

That took a bit of effort. Elsewhere I suggested I needed an app that just signed everything for me! This is going in the other direction. ;)
