Please help me in choosing a nuclear project

Is nuclear fission going to make a comeback and plug the gap in our energy needs? Will nuclear fusion ever become energetically viable?

Please help me in choosing a nuclear project

Post by Nuclear_chita »

Hello all,

I am currently pursuing my MSc in Nuclear engineering. My background is in BSc Electrical/electronics engineering therefore I am inclined to go for some project related to nuclear engineering having roots in electrical/electronics/control engineering.

It would be great if somebody can suggest some project titles. For example, problems related to nuclear industry like one of my mates was working upon making a BF3 detector more effective etc.

Thanks in advance!

Nuclear waste handling, storage and disposal. It's the only aspect of the industry with a guaranteed long term future. ;)

Years ago I helped design an emulation of a storage vault for medium-level nuclear waste. The emulator was to be plugged into the control hardware/software being developed so it could be used to test it and see how if it responded correctly to faults. That was electronic/computer based.

Another one I knew about but didn't work on was the Hulls Monitor in THORP, which uses some pretty complicated electronics to get its job done. Some info in this: http://www-atalante2004.cea.fr/home/lib ... /O1-01.pdf
