A question from another forum which I am hoping Adam2 can answer
Hi all, got a PV question that I'm hoping someone can help me out with. Are PVs compatible with 'pay as you go' electricity meters? If not, what are the issues? Cheers in advance ! :)

Bit of a curious question! I can't think of a scenario whereby you would be in a position to install solar panels but not in a position to insist that your supplier gets rid of the prepay meter.

AFAIK grid tied PV is not compatible with key meters due to a number of practical problems.

Pre payment meters are usually installed for those who have a poor credit history, or for short term tenants.

Installation of a grid tied PV array is a considerable investment, and almost anyone able to afford this investment should be solvent enough to have a credit meter installed.

Solar panels are compatible with prepayment meters as far as I am aware. My neighbour has panels and a prepayment meter.
