Got an email about the WSS share offer today. Anyone got any info or thoughts about it as an investment?

WSS website: http://westsolentsolar.coop/home.asp
Prospectus: http://filesdown.esecure.co.uk/WestSole ... cument.pdf

Doing a quick calculation based on the data at the start of the prospectus, I came up with these figures.

Share offer runs from 18/03/2014 to 30/04/2014. As of 01/04/2014:
  • Raised so far from shares: £440,384
  • Raised so far from bonds: £92,250
These two amounts represent:
  • 33.88% of shares and 57.66% of bonds needed to reach the lower target of £1,460,000 for a projected output of 1.2MW.
  • 20.02% of shares and 35.48% of bonds for the top target of £2,460,000 for a projected output of 2.4MW.
All the above is just for an idea of how the offer has been going so far. Of much more interest is the investment-output calculation.
  • For the lower target these are 0.822W/£ or £1.217/W
  • For the top target they are 0.976W/£ or £1.025/W

Doesn't seem like much time left, does it?

I'm not so worried about the time remaining for the share offer. However, the project needs to be completed and generating electricity by 30 June 2014 in order to qualify for the Feed in Tariff rate that applied up until the end of December 2013.

I guess that once the lower target is reached, the construction will start and the output capacity adapted to the money raised by the end of the share offer, up to the top target level.

Planning permission has been obtained and grid connection, solar panel purchase, &c agreements are all in place and ready to go.

Fair enough. I wish stuff like this would happen over here that fast though. Good luck with it.
