I had my solar system fitted in August 2009 and immediately noticed the old meter going backwards. I ticked the box on the paperwork to say that the meter was going backwards. Since then, most of the time I have been unable to enter my electricity meter readings online as it would be less than the time before. I explained this each time I had to ring them with my meter readings and my bill was produced with the figures given and one time, a meter reader was sent out to re-read it!! This time, in July, I was told that an engineer needed to come out and I arranged for him to call this week and lo & behold I am now the proud owner of a brand spanking new digital electric meter which does not go backwards While I was chatting with the engineer he mentioned that they are really getting on the ball with the old meters now & replacing them much more frequently for people with solar panels.
I am now really going to change my habits & shower/wash/dry/bake & use the dishwasher & breadmaker when the sun is shining. We've had a good run for two years so I'm certainly not complaining but I thought I'd mention it here so that others are forewarned.
