The Guardian - 02/04/11

Late last year we had electricity-generating solar panels put on our roof. We applied to our supplier, ScottishPower, for the feed-in tariff, but it told us it will only pay us for units generated from when we filled in the form, rather than when the panels were installed. Oh crikey no they can't! And wot's more, 'tis ScottishPower who give us our FiT here at Chateau Renewable. There was absolutely no question: they fund you for every unit the meter shows. And the said meter will have started working the day the panels were commissioned. At, 0.00 kWh.

The Eligibility Date for FiTs is the later of the Commissioning Date or the date the supplier is notified that you want to enter into a contract.

The supplier is fully entitled to not accept the meter reading from zero.
