Does anyone have any information on Velux Solar Panels? Their website has got a glossy brochure, but does not seem to have a lot of useful information.
Anyone know if they are flat panel or evacuated tube?

Velux make great loft windows, didnt know they did Solar Panels?

There's not a great deal of detail in the brochures or on the site.

If Velux's reputation is to be kept up, I'd say these are well-made systems. They're not cheap - but neither are their windows but they're very good, much better than the competition I've seen.

Why not contact the dealer listed on the site and ask your questions? Let us know your questions and their answers, please. Or contact Velux themselves.

Velux will also be exhibiting at Grand Designs in a few weeks' times.

I think I will contact Velux. It might be a bit cheeky to contact a dealer whom I have no intention of buying from.
I am renovating an old house in France, and it is needing a new roof. The roofer gave a quote to supply and fix Velux solar panels along with the quote for the new roof. It makes sense to put them up at the same time when the scaffolding is available. My limited French language skills are not up to asking details about solar panels in French. I know that I can get Navitron evacuated tube collectors over there, but I did not know that Velux made Solar panels so was hoping that someone might have installed them, or considered them, so would have some information.
I suspect that the roofer saw them in the catalogue when he was getting prices for the Roof windows that we want.

Perhaps you could ask if there are any neigbours or other locals who have had them installed? Some of them might speak English.

Unfortunately I am not over in France at the moment. I can't remember seeing any solar panels on any houses locally, but I will check when I am back over in a few weeks. In the meantime I have sent an email to Velux. If I get any useful information from them I will post it on here.

I have just had a reply from Velux confirming that they are Flat Plate collectors. The trade brochure at http://www.carbon-neutralhome.co.uk/pdf ... ochure.pdf gives a bit more information.

Have to be careful though when companies are branching in to new products. I have been working in the indianapolis air conditioning market for some time now and we are very particular in the products we use especially when it comes to installing solar panels. It is refreshing to know that the company has engineering experience, but solar power wise we would like to see a couple more years under their belts.

Velux have been making and selling these flat plate collectors for some time.

Sleepy Hollow, you should expect to pay around 4,000 € for the complete system including the water tank.

If you're hoping to live in the house full-time or are going to let it then if you buy collectors to French norms you're entitled to a 45% grant towards their cost.
