May I ask alternative-energy who installed his Import/Export Meter?
I am having pv solar panels installed at the moment, and am having difficulties finding anyone who will install an I/E Meter (or just an Export meter to supplement my existing meter). My installer says it's the service provider's job, and the sp says it's the installer's!
I find it just unbelievable how difficult it is to find any information on tariffs, etc.
Has anyone any experience of Ebico as a service provider - I have just found their website, which looks promising.
Any advice most welcome!

Yes, SSE - Scottish and Southern Electricity - no charge for meter install and they pay me same for export electricity as import and are agents for my ROCs ( just received this amount for last year)May I ask alternative-energy who installed his Import/Export Meter?
I am on the going Solar Programme.

Solar Project
Hi,
I am currently preparing my project for a PV + Heated solar water for my house in Bristol. I am struggling to find some information about the following aspects :
- Is there a place which compares the different rates at which the energy companies buy the electricity fed into the grid from solar/wind installations?
- Is there a financial tool/formula to calculate how long it will take to "pay back" the installation costs and including : Price of installation, grants, expected production, expected inflation of energy prices, expected inflation of price paid per kWh for energy fed into the grid, maintenance cost and possibly more. it seems a lot but It seems to be the best way to compare quotes.
- Have any of you used any simulation softwares to prepare their project? If yes, which one and how would you score them? I used PVSYST, lovely peace of software, it works on my Linus systems and is great to plan shadding and exposition. It seems a bit optimistic for the production though!
(http://www.macoda.com/index.php/Photovo ... Simulation it's in French but look at the videos it will give you an idea about thee possibilities).
- East and West orientation in theory are not that bad, any experiience out there of people having a solar PV on one of these 2 orientations?
-Thank you for this great thread,
Stef

Received £620.49 from SSE for exported electricity and VAT in 2008-9. much higher sum than expected.
Waiting for ROC payment of around £150- much larger next year.
Interesting to see what the Feed in Tariffs will be in 2010 - hoping for at least 35p per kwh. Now thinking that the system will have paid for itself in 6-8 years
