ONE of the biggest solar developments in the UK could be on its way to help power Toyota’s Burnaston factory in a £10 million green energy scheme.
The car manufacturing giant wants to build 17,000 solar panels on disused land within the plant’s perimeter fence, and has submitted a planning application to South Derbyshire District Council.
Generating a maximum of five Megawatts per hour, it is hoped that once installed, the panels could save 45,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide over their 25- year lifetime.
