Data Collection

Post by katie »

Does anyone else keep a record of their solar energy production?
Since I had mine fitted at the end of August, I record morning, noon & evening levels and also the daily production total. I hope that this info may be of interest to people in my area if they are considering solar panels. The data I got from http://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvgis/apps3/pvest.php is a good guide but I find that I'm producing more that their stated averages :)
I'm curious to see a comparison between the average and my production after a few years - if I can keep going with the data collection.

We haven't got solar pv but we do have wind power and we have kept daily figures for total generation, export, import and used on site since early in 2007 when we first had the system.

It's very interesting to look back on and compare months and years.

That's what I thought. :)

Maybe I will just do once daily readings now. :)

While giving the readings gives some idea it really a bit meaningless & needs more information such as the size of your array & the approx. direction. I've put mine in my signature. I keep a daily record of my readings at the moment but I can download these via bluetooth from the Sunnyboy display or even direct from the inverter using the free Sunnyboy Explorer program.

Inverter SMA SB 3800
