Car Repairs and Maintenance topic

So, there are a lot of people on here that are mechanically minded and do their own repairs to motor's.

Would a car repairs and maintenance topic go in general discussion, preparations or off topic?

The reason I'd like one here is that on other online forums specifically for car repairs there's a lot of snobbery albeit a kind of reverse snobbery that you should understand the lingo etc.. I don't think there would be the same problem here and there's more likely to be ad-hoc solutions to certain things that a more mainstream forum wouldn't be fitting.

I would suggest that if the subject is peak oil related, then it might go in preperations.
Examples could include modifications to use home made or alternative fuels, electric conversions, EMP proofing, fuel saving, extended range fuel tanks and so on.

If the subject is more general motor vehicle repairs, not particularly PO related, then "off topic" might be best
