Lots of things true in the 80s are truer today.

Why thanks Mr Fox for unearthing this. What a splendid way to while away a rainy Sunday afternoon whilst sipping home made wine in front of the auld wood burning stove and scratching ones dreadlocks .

I remember actually buying a copy of the issue with the striking cover of the gorilla clutching hold of the London post office tower at ground zero in Fitzrovia. I was hooked after that.

In retrospect, whilst folk seemed quite transfixed by wind energy and nuclear power a quick scan shows there seems to be a surprising lack of interest in the great oil shortage of 1979 (those ungrateful Iranians) whilst global warming has not appeared on the radar yet.

The classified ads are every bit as interesting as the far out articles. I wonder what befell all those worker co-operatives constantly seeking anti sexist males. UC and many were trying to sail in precisely the opposite direction to the times which is maybe why it foundered in the middle of the Thatcher era.

p.s. I suspect Loony Doomster may well be lurking on this forum!

There are a full 6 pages on communications interception. The writing is darkly prescient, even though the technical details now seem sort of 'quaint'... The 'People's Radio Primer' article was excellent, full of the sort of information that might come in handy one day.

So... if you wanted to save a whole magazine from ISSUU.COM without an account, you can paste the URL of the doc into this site, enter the last page number (eg 52) and hit 'Descargar' - it generates a webpage with all the pages of the doc in jpg format... just 'save page as', rename; you've just saved yourself 35p! (that's £8bn in today's money).

Having read their copyright notice, I'm sure the authors would approve.

What a killer app! It produces a very convincing digital analogue of scrolling through the back issues on a microfilm reader!
