Just a recommendation for the film CitizenFour.

Available at all the usual places.

I've read two books on this, Greenwald's No Place to Hide and Harding's The Snowden Files. Greenwald's was unsurprisingly the better book but it was good to have the same events described by different people. Also interesting to learn more about The Guardian's role. The UK population seem to be one of the most ambivalent about all this... "Spies spy!" and GCHQ also seem to have lighter regulation than other agencies. At the time media coverage was based around the NSA (as the source of the material and the larger player) but in hindsight I think GCHQ (and the UK's convenient location for intercepting transatlantic traffic) are just as important players.
