Anyone read it? Worth buying?

I have it, it's not very good as survival manuals go.
It's a companion piece to his how-to-novel, Patriots.

It's too general in it's scope and only touches on the most important subjects briefly... There aren't any diagrams or pictures of essentials like solar still or water filters.

There are better books, and very rarely will one contain everything you need to know.
Try Ray Mears' Wild Food, Eric McBay's Peak Oil Survival and The SAS Urban Survival Manual.

I have various survival manuals and my favourites one is Staying Alive by Ron Reid Daly. Sadly for everyone else this book is out of print.

My copy of SAS Urban Survival was printed in '91, I'm not sure if there's an updated version about.

Children of Men is brilliant, those long tracking single takes are just so well done.
Not your typical thriller and no cosy catastrophe.

I love Children of Men. It's just that it also reignites the fear in me.

I bought How to Survive the End of World as we Know it btw 2 nights ago when I'd had a couple of glasses of wine. I know you said it was too general Haggis, but I think that's probably by your standards - I don't know as much about that stuff, so maybe it'll be pitched at the right level for me?

That was my logic at the time anyhow. I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Children of Men is doomtastic, but hopeful too.

More books on the shelf is only a bad thing when you don't read them.
