One of Jared Diamond's books has a few chapters on case studies of societies that were sustainable and adaptable, like a Japanese shogunate and Tikopia, and those that failed, like Easter Island and the Mayans.
You also get to understand why the Emperor of Japan is called an Emperor and not a king, and an unforgettable snippet of trivia in that travellers in the Japanese shogunate could stay overnight for free in certain places so long as they crapped there (yes you read that right) and generated some sustainable fertiliser for their hosts.
Tainter is definitely my doom porn though.

I would have thought that you could get all you need from one such book. Reading two would just lead to depression which is the last thing you need to tackle the upcoming problems.
Get a book on Permaculture instead and apply that to your life. The Power of Positive Thinking is another good book once you have read the one to appraise you of the problem that we face in the future.
If you feel that you must read two or more books on collapse just top yourself now and save time and also leave more food for those left behind!!

I've read dozens of books on collapse and haven't yet tried to end it all!
