Latest Windfarm Auction Failure

Can Wind Power meet the energy needs of Britain in the 21st century or is it just a lot of overblown hype?

Somewhat concerning to say the least. Hopefully things will improve.
The recently approved very large pumped storage scheme in Scotland will help considerably, by providing an extra 1.5 GW of demand, when being charged.

This is government failure not industry failure. Government *knowingly* set the price too low, the result was not a surprise to anyone.

Everything points to the. Current administration being entirely in the pockets of the fossil fuel industry, be it coal mining, North Sea oil and gas licensing, or the apparently deliberate sabotaging of offshore wind licensing, or domestic energy support schemes so bad they actively send many companies insolvent.

I only w ish I had any confidence that any future administration would less beholden to the same lobbies and growth at all costs economics

Government raises its contract price for the next auction from £44 to £70 per MWh. Should have done it months ago.
