5 G phone signals to disrupt airlines.

Seems to be more of a USA problem as 5 G and airlines seem to co-exist OK in other countries. 5 G signals are reportedly stronger in America.

Earlier reports stated that major disruption was expected from tomorrow, 19/01/2022. However another delay to the 5 G switch on has now been announced.

I cannot imagine that the US authorities could have licenced the sale of electronic equipment that transmits on frequencies that interfere with aviation safety critical infrastructure. I though all this sort of thing was sorted out years in advance.
It seems to relate to 5G base towers sending signals near airports that can interfere with radio altimeters on aircraft which are depended on for automatic landings in low visibility. Other countries regulated that 5G towers need to be sited and aligned to avoid flight paths, but not in free market USA. The mobile phone companies went ahead and built them wherever they wanted, and airports are obvious hot spots for 5G customers. Now they are complaining because they are not allowed to turn the base stations on, whilst the FAA rushes to certify individual models of radio altimeters on aircraft as immune to interference from the new 5G signals.
