UK's first electric car charging points to be installed

SOME of the UK’s first electric car charging points are set to be installed in Leamington.

The battery charging ports will be built at St Peter’s Car Park and Covent Garden Car Park in the town as part of a new study testing the use of fume-less vehicles.

The Coventry and Birmingham Low Emissions Demonstration (CaBLED) project has seen vehicles handed over to successful applicants across the region for a one year trial.

Councillor David Shilton, Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for neighbourhood services, said: “Many of these vehicles are expected to be produced from parts manufactured in the Midlands.

A step forward indeed, but not perhaps as ground breaking as they seem to think. Public electric car charging points have been installed in central London for some years.
