Massive Slump

Our transport is heavily oil-based. What are the alternatives?

Off-topic, but, for interests sake, at what rank do you indeed say, "You lot take the ridge, and I'll stay here and do some command and control"?

My MP, Richard Benyon, a DEFRA Minister, came up with a good analogy for why the UK should take a lead in combating Climate Change when we will make little difference compared to the Chinese or Indians. Being a military man, he said that if you had a platoon of troops who had to take a ridge from the enemy you, as their officer, wouldn't say to the platoon *You lot go and take the ridge and I'll stay here because it doesn't need all of us to do the job." We, as supposed leaders in the green movement or, at least, people who know what 's going on, should take the lead and show people the way forward by our example.
All very cosy, but it kinda misses the point. The West has exported it's pollution and now it needs to start fixing things.
That's his point. We should be leading the way in Climate Change mitigation.

Peter.
Judging by Colonel H Jones in the Falklands and the Welsh Guards colonel killed in Afghanistan, somewhere above Colonel.

I have absolutely no idea - are they exceptions? or is this the norm?
