Electric Truck Manufacturer

Our transport is heavily oil-based. What are the alternatives?

Electric Truck Manufacturer

Post by fifthcolumn »

The "last mile" is often considered the hole in any "solution" to peak oil.

In terms of transport, an oil starved future could use a combination of ocean freight, river & canal based transport and long distance railway.

The last mile is the problem.

Turns out there are existing electric truck manufacturers which look pretty reasonable.

For examples: a full sized cube truck such as are currently being used by the likes of FedEx and Parcelforce exists in an electric only format with a top speed of 50mph and a range of 150 miles. Gone are the days of the old milk floats.

Wasn't Clive Sinclair working on electric trucks and the like a few years back?

Unless they went the way of the C5 . . . always wondered why it was called the C5, as it was the first one. Maybe it was because you'd be 'lucky to C5'.
