The castrate is the most suitable for harness work. He is usually larger and much easier to handle and it is a wonderful use for a male goat who would normally have to be put down or else eat his head off doing nothing. Some males have been successfully castrated after serving a few years at stud and have been perfect for harness work.

Obviously written by a vegetarian. The normal use for a castrate is meat, at least it was when I kept goats.

You have to be very careful in keeping goats because they will soon demolish any browse then start on the grasses leaving the land open to erosion. Just look at the Middle East and North Africa to see what goats can do.
