So we made it. AND cycled there and back 9miles each way - (10 yr old daughter did this too).... feeling virtuous!
The showing of 'The End of Surburbia' was well attended and well worth seeing.
There were various marquees, halls and exhibits. Quite a few 'nice' stalls which were somehow 'green' but missed the mark in terms of the implications of peak oil. Yet there were also some others that were worth a stop. It is impossible to escape the 'token gesture-ism' of some activities.
Anyway all in all (and despite the 'luvvies') it was a good day out. Oh and thanks to the folk on the stand, on the way out, who were sharing their home made wines. The sample of Elderberry set me up for the cycle home!

I went back again yesterday too! We joined the WWT on Sat, so we got in free (without the 18mile cycle this time). My two youngest daughters loved all the stuff up in the woods. I attended one of the talks in the marquee - named something daft like Intelligence, Intuition ... etc.
It was good, but I thought there was a missed opportunity at the end. Some one asked about local groups and the Green Peace man said his leaflet would tell us more, but it didn't really. I think some people would have been ready to leave their names & details if a local campaign group was to have been proposed.....
I wanted to see the one at 4pm on Food Growing etc, but I missed it.

Ps On the bicycle generator thing I was a 'microwave'... not that I could keep it up long enough to reallly power the microwave to cook dinner! Good stand all the same.

I didn't get to any of the talks, just didn't time it well!!! It's a lovely place at Castle Espie membership is a good idea if you don't live too far away.
The emphasis outside the talks was definately more focused on the green living aspect rather than peak oil although there is significant cross over in my view.

Cuba is getting donations from the WHO to survive. Vitamin C tablets for the undernurished children whilest exporting citrus fruits and other absurdities the like. Now that the "war against terror" is getting the US politicans more points then the odd "war against the commis" the struggle of the Cubanian partywhips for survival might soon be ended by the people themself.....
