Not going to make this one I'm afraid. I'll be on the train back from London.

Yet again it clashes with our community group meeting. Bummer.

I'll be working until 9pm, so won't be at the meeting unfortunately.

Went along tonight along with about a dozen others.
Joe Flanagan (NWDA) gave an overview of electricity supply issues - fairly standard stuff, his main conclusion being that we need much more investment in nuclear. Good for resilience, good for CO2 & good for jobs in the NW.
Nigel Blandford (Envirolink North West) gave an overview of the issues wrt heat generation - particularly keen on biomass and would also like to see more waste-to-energy. He also touched on some of the emerging technologies, for example, plans in ROI to combine large-scale wind farms with hydro-power storage reservoirs:

Q&A followed, but a bit limited due to a noisy environment.

Sounds good, I know Nigel and he is a good bloke and very knowledgeable. Shame I couldn't make it, I might have to forego my community group meeting if it clashes next time!
Either that or we have another "grim up north" official Powerswitch session
