Leeds re-localisation initiative - first meeting

Following on from the recent End of Suburbia showing in Leeds, this is the first meeting of those who are interested in setting up a re-localisation initiative in Leeds.

This initial meeting is primarily intended as a brainstorming session & information gathering excercise, as well as a networking opportunity.

Draft Agenda:

1. Introductions

2. Progress Update

3. Defining the organisation: what kind of organisation do we want to be (charity, autonomous, business)?

4. Post Carbon Institute: appraisal of benefits, constraints & obligations; quick (interim) decision on membership.

5. Ideas/brainstorming session to generate Leeds-specific project ideas in the following areas:
a. Awareness/education
b. Food
c. Energy
d. Transport
e. Local authority liaison, forming partnerships with other NGOs and/or local businesses, fundraising

6. Skills/experience/contacts/resources assessment

7. Take decision on a name!
Leeds Relocalisation?
Powerdown Leeds?
...

8. Next steps: register domain, set up website etc...

9. Any Other Business

did this meeting go ahead? went down to the victoria hotel at 7.30 and didnt see anthing - the function room was closed cos of a flood. Whens the next meeting, cheers

Yeah It did - we were in the no-smoking room out the back. We had papers out and I thought we looked suitably meeting-like, but I guess not... sorry you missed us.

The next meeting is currently penciled in for Wednesday 22nd, 7:30 at the Common Place.

did anything come out of this meeting ?

i've been looking for a localish group for a while now, would be seriously intrested in adding my small contribution, even helping to set up a similar group here in small town doncaster.
