Horses 'retired' in vast numbers

Post by Anwen »

Because of course, horse owners don't do abandoning, like those scruffy oiks who abandon their dogs or cats... Anyway, there was an item about this on the BBC news but couldn't find much on their website so here is a link direct from the horse's mouth (sorry...)

http://www.horsetrust.org.uk/Doc_News.a ... 0c6479352f

They interviewed a lady who basically said that, yes, some horses will die because of this.

My neighbour has two that need shooting, but he'll have to keep them till february,
since the southern one of Britain's two remaining slaughterhouses licenced for horses
is fully booked killing foals until then.

Just keep buying the salami to keep a bottom under UK horse prices !

The Farming Progamme Radio 4 at 6.45 this morning was about the horse problem.

Sad, and for me ironic, as I've taken advantage of the rain today to start planning my migration from machine to draft horse.
