The US Senate has voted 'nay' to the $700B bailout plan. In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, the bailout plan backed by George Bush as a plan of "tremendous importance to all Americans" has been rejected by the senate. The initial vote of 207 to 226 in the senate was not overturned in the reflection time after the vote. With the DOW falling nearly 500 points and the clock to the deliberation time running to zero, the senator of Texas tried to revive discussions on the bill to no avail.

After Bush's end-of-the-world speech, this could cause a bit of panic ... even if the true situation isn't really too dire.

I'm thinking of going out NOW to get some cash from the ATM.
Do you realise that we may be on the eve of a financial meltdown?
Probably very, very unlikely BUT if there is ANY day in your lifetime which will be the start of a financiall meltdown, tomorrow will probably be it!
Forget any humour - this is rather a scary thought.
(I'm sounding like LATOC ... but maybe I should do, just this once)

Know whats even more scary, Vortex? I wonder how many people feel as you do? Could we possibly expect mile long que's at every ATM and bank around Europe tomorrow?
I wonder what's happening in the States? Are the sheeple already fetching thier money out of the banks? If so, we really. really are in a huge pile of dung, and this whole thing could actually go down in day's......

Nah, with your usual luck you will just be robbed. Then you will end up without money but full of hate. Quite a waste. Better to just suffer together with the rest of us.

Oh, it's gonna happen and tomorrow seems as good a day as any.

There's a lot of sense on LATOC, just not the kind of sense most people want to hear.

Right, that's it - where's my copy of 'Independence Day'? Or maybe 'Supervolcano', or 'The Day After Tomorrow' - dammit, this calls for some serious escapist uber-doomwatching.

Glad I've just been paid. Time for a salary-busting ASDA order, methinks.

I wonder if the ATM's will mysteriously go "off-line" before daybreak? If that does happen, I will be very, very scared indeed!

Would you all calm down to a panic.
