I had a look through the
Have Your Say comments about that earlier.
There are some comments that display the sheer level of ignorance of science which is prevalent in society.
People seem to think pylons vs underground cabling is simply a matter of cost and that you can just dig a trench and bury your cable which is carrying 400 kV and leave it at that.
There is at least one comment on there spouting the classic nuclear = zero carbon myth as well.

Added this, for whatever good it will do:
I find it hilarious how people say, "Environmentalists want to take us back to the caves", when actually, the NIMBY and BANANA fraternity are doing just that. They are taking us one step down the road to the Olduvai Scenario (Google "Olduvai Theory"). In this instance, presumably the new pylons will be next to existing ones, so why bother at all with an inquiry?
Our National Security depends on Energy Security. When will the Government stop dithering and demonstrate some leadership?
