Most regretable in my view, hopefully means can be found to remain open, or make the closure only short term.

It was a visit to CAT as a young child that helped steer me towards a life of environmentalism. I go back every few years, for courses, events or just a visit while on holiday. It is always a great place to ‘be’ but it has struck me a few times that the exhibits have become rather dated and less useful to visitors who want to move past the basics and just get on with it. That’s where their short practical courses and longer more immersive programmes are where they should be concentrating I think. It’s a pity if jobs are lost though.

Know what you mean - I went last year and it did look a little tired...
I guess it's chicken and egg - more visitors gives more scope for better/updated exhibits...
Even if there's no public money available.., shirley there must be others who'd donate funds or offer sponsorship....?
Renewable energy companies, universities, wealthy 'eco minded' individuals.....?

Shame but having it away from main population centres was never a good idea. I know they need the topography and rainfall for the hydro but would still be better with a place somewhere in central England near a railway station. I am sure that most visitors also went by car even if there is a very slow rail line hear there.
In the era of internet and YouTube a lot of things can be done online as well.
I recall my single visit there in the early 90s waiting for an eternity for the water powered railway to start moving. I did see David Bellamy there and he was so enthusiastic he was literally bouncing about. Don't remember a lot about the place and exhibits to be honest. Had other things on my mind at the time.
