Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden is dead

Al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama Bin Laden has been killed by US forces in Pakistan, President Obama has said.
The al-Qaeda leader was killed in a ground operation outside Islamabad based on US intelligence, the first lead for which emerged last August.
Mr Obama said after "a firefight", US forces took possession of his body.
Bin Laden was accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001.
He was top of the US "most wanted" list.
The US has put its embassies around the world on alert, warning Americans of the possibility of al-Qaeda reprisal attacks for Bin Laden's killing.
Crowds gathered outside the White House in Washington DC, chanting "USA, USA" after the news emerged.

Are we going to get an apology from the people who "knew" that he was dead several years ago, or even captured and held in a secret prison somewhere? No, I thought not.

Don't expect the debate to die down or the apologies to flow if this is true:
A US official quoted by Associated Press news agency said Bin Laden's body had been buried at sea, although this has not been confirmed.

It's highly unlikely that that is genuine footage of last nights operation. It looks more like a fighting withdrawal in somewhere like Iraq.
The US are saying, so far, that it was a helicopter based insertion and extraction, with the loss of one helicopter. I can't imagine Humvees being used, as the Pakistan authorities would have then got wind of the operation. I'd assume the Pakistan Govt was told about the operation as it was concluding, to stop any leaks jeopardising the Op.
Dunno about the picture in the last seconds.. a dead bearded arab with a massive head wound looks pretty much like any other dead arab with a massive head wound.
But yeah... it was stupid to dump the body in the sea right now. They should have got the press in. If only to stop the stupid conspiracy theorists wing-nuts from going into overdrive of apoplectic masturbatory glee from which they are now forming a whole fresh bunch of insanely stupid, boring and frankly weird set of mistaken theories that they're going to inflict on the rest of the interwebs for the coming years...

Now I wonder why he was buried at sea?
IMHO, US needed closure on this in order to withdraw from the area in order to save money they haven't got. Couldn't withdraw until the job was seen to be done. Now it is 'done'. ?

In fact, thinking about it - let's just beat the wing-nuts to it.
Osama isn't dead, he's been given a job serving fries at a KFC in Montana. The Bush/Obama oligarchy, are in cahoots to deceive the American public with last nights supposed "death" of Obama, so they can implement the next phase of the New World Order of flying lizards from outer-space, who want to destroy Disney by forcing every freedom loving US citizen to accept Healthcare while taking away their God-given right to carry a gun. Any 5 year old with a brain can spot that the words KFC and Osama, when re-arranged, spells .. New World Order of Flying Lizards.
Yeah, that's what last night was about.

If it was stupid to dump the body at sea, then why did they do it?
Can you explain where you get the authority to decree suspicions about these events "mistaken"? If you can't do better than rants and insults, I can't help but wonder what you base your version of events on other than the unshakable conviction of your own innate wisdom.
I don't trust anything our governments tell us about what they have been doing in the Middle East for the past 20 years, and I don't credit someone who believes them with much of a critical faculty.
